Boats and Baptisms

June 13, 2016

We have had a really great week, we have a friend who is pressing forward towards her baptismal date. She has a couple weeks to get some things done. I am so excited. We should have a great week next week. We got some good friends here in Greenock. We have a great new district. We have sister missionaries from Finland and Zambia. And and Elder from Hungry. They are all so fun and our district had a killer week. Later today we are going to visit a man who lived in Victorville California for a while. He loves California. He likes to work on cars, so we have good conversations.
I am happy to see how peoples lives can change. That is my favorite thing about what we are doing.
I spoke in Church on sunday about scripture study. It was actually pretty fun, because I was just talking to my friends. There was no pressure.
I hope you all have a great week.

Hey Mama
We had a pretty fun week. The weather is starting to get bad again, but last Saturday it was way nice. There was a boat show/race. It was pretty cool. There was a guy we met who was racing for kawasaki, he was from Miami. It was pretty cool to watch we also talked to a lot people, because there was probably like ten-thousand people there. It was pretty cool to meet people from all over.
Sunday we had someone come with us to church and he really enjoyed it. There was a massive cruise ship which had a lot of americans on it. There were a lot of visitors at church on Sunday
We have a pretty good week planned ahead, we have a zone meeting tomorrow and a baptismal interview, and a baptism. Should be good.
Dang Derik, sounds like a good time. Could you send some of the photos please.
Hope you have a great week.

You Are My Sunshine

We have actually had sun the last couple of weeks. It is quite nice to feel the warmth of the sun. That is amazing to hear about Nelson. He is the man! That is way exciting!!
We have been enjoying the weather and doing a lot of finding by the beach.   We have met a lot of great people. We have made some great friends recently, and we are excited to teach them. Elder Flynn and I are getting along really well. We have a lot in common and are having fun. I am really excited to be serving with someone from california.
Last Saturday we went to Dunoon to teach and visit some people. We got hot chocolate at this little cafe, and had dinner at a members home. I love taking the ferry across to Dunoon, because It feels like you are going back in time. Next week I want to go to a resturaunt there called the 51st State. It is an american grill, that claims to be genuine American food. Today we may go to Battery park and see if we can meet up with some of our friends and make the most out of this nice weather.
I hope you all have a good start of summer!

Army of Helaman!

Hi Everyone!

We have had an amazing week this last week! We were busy and met a few new people. I went on exchanges with a few of the missionaries in the district. My companion was busy doing interviews for baptism on Monday so that is why I am emailing today. I went to Paisley and served with a great missionary named Elder Powell. We did some finding in the beautiful sunny weather. We also taught a few great people. There was one man who served in the British army. He loved the fact that I was from California. He went on about Arnold Schwarzenegger and muscle beach. He talked a lot about his service in the military and we talked about our families. He wishes all back home in California well. He actually gave me a really cool navy seal patch. I refused for a while, then he said that he wants me to bring it back to California. "It would have a better life in California." So I have it and I will bring it back home. He was a great man and people like him is what makes a mission so meaningful to me. I know we have a great week ahead and hope you have too.

Missionary Friends

May 9th

It was nice to skype home yesterday! It was a great ending to a great week. We were able to go to Edinburgh on Wednesday and hear from our mission president. I was able to see a lot of my missionary friends. It's always nice to see new things and meet new people. The weather has been nice recently and I have been able to wear a short sleeve shirt. This place is really beautiful when the sun is out. I am looking forward to the next week, because there is supposed to be nice weather.
I hope you all have a great week.
This email is short because I told you everything yesterday.

Sounds like an incredible week. I am really proud of Mason. I am a little upset I couldnt be there but the pictures looked great.
We had a great week as well. We are teaching a couple new people. We have a busy week ahead of us as well. Our district all did well this week. We went to general priesthood yesterday and heard some great words in a funny accent. We are doing a bit of traveling this next week. We will be visiting members on a beautiful island. We will be going to a place called Dunoon to visit some people.
Elder Swarts and I are exciting for the new people we are teaching and are hoping that they will be able to get to know the members in the Greenock branch. We are having beautiful weather recently. We went a couple of weeks without rain and it was fairly warm. I didnt even have to wear a jacket for a while. It looks like this week will be a little different. I was able to get a few pictures of Scotland with some sunshine.

Happy Almost Mother's Day!

I am excited to be calling home this weekend! Sounds like a lot has happened and it will be nice to see your faces.
Recently I have gone on exchanges with multiple missionaries. It is always fun to work with new people and see new areas.
The other day we had a great lesson that the branch had set up for us. They invited one of the members friend and we watched the Joseph Smith restoration video. We then taught him the restoration lesson and he loved it. It is always exciting to meet and teach new people. It is also exciting when the branch invites there friends to learn.
Tomorrow we have a huge missionary conference in Scotland. We dont really know what is happening because last time something like this happened Elder Holland came and spoke to the missionaries. I am looking forward to seeing what is going to happen.
It has started to rain the past couple of days, so our nice spring weather has come and went. Hopefully our summer will be a bit longer than 10 days.
Hope you have a great week and I will speak to you on Sunday.

Haggis Anyone?

My Birthday was really great. We went to an amazing families home for dinner and had a great dinner. Then we had a delicious chocolate cake that almost looked to good to eat. We still have half of that cake that we will be bringing to district meeting tomorrow to share with the others in the district. I will have to get used to telling people that I am 19.
Since my comp is the district leader I went on exchanges with the zone leaders last Tuesday. It was pretty cool. His name is Elder Novotny and he is from the Czech Republic. He is pretty intense so it was good for me. We will also be going on exchanges with other missionaries in our district as well.
We had a pretty slow week last week. Our investigator with a date is hard to get in contact with, but will be finding her this week. The members are great in this branch and the mission leader is great as well.
I ate some Haggis for dinner on Saturday. I was a little worried because I know what is in it. But the members told me I had to at least try it and If I dont like it they had a backup plan. But it was really good. It looks terrible but I liked it.
Hope you all have a great week .

Here we go...

Bon Apetit!
All done...DELICIOUS!

Haggis, the national dish of Scotland, a type of pudding composed of the liver, heart, and lungs of a sheep (or other animal), minced and mixed with beef or mutton suet and oatmeal and seasoned with onioncayenne pepper, and other spices. The mixture is packed into a sheep's stomach and boiled
